 The World of Film in Australia - on the Internet Updated Tuesday September 15, 2020 


For the first time, the HAYDEN ORPHEUM, Cremorne, will be participating in the 2016 JEWISH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, bringing this popular event to the north side of Sydney.

Films include SAND STORM which swept the recent Israeli Oscars and will be Israel’s nomination for best foreign film at the Academy Awards; DENIAL starring Rachel Weisz as acclaimed writer and historian Deborah E. Lipstadt in her battle for historical truth to prove the Holocaust actually occurred when David Irving, a renowned denier, sues her for libel ; THE PEOPLE VS FRITZ BAUER ,the true story of the man who brought high-ranking German Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann to justice and BABA JOON the first ever Farsi language Israeli film.

"I have searched every nook and cranny of world cinema over the last 12 months watching over 300 films and the excitement is as palpable as for the first film I ever watched. It is a privilege to share with you these 68 new award winners and crowd pleasers that show life through the Jewish looking glass. Films by and about people trying to make sense of our crazy, beautiful world”, says Eddie Tamir, Artistic Director.
