GOLDEN GLOBES 2015 - WINNERS

CHARLIE PRESENT AT GOLDEN GLOBES
George Clooney, recipient of the Cecil B De Mille Lifetime Achievement Award was not the only one to proclaim Je Suis Charlie at the Golden Globes Awards ceremony, held just hours after Paris and the world turned out in force to stand up against Islamic extremists.

And it was appropriate enough, as Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Theo Kingma pointed out, for an occasion organised by writers from around the world.

Another political reference came via the stern presence of a North Korean female in military outfit, referenced by comedy hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which hung on the Sony hacking and resulting shemozzle about The Interview’s theatrical release. She threatened to host next year’s awards ceremony.

Politics aside, it was filmmaking that was centre stage, with an outpouring of affection for the arts and crafts of filmmaking, a flurry of gowns and heartfelt speeches, notably Michael Keaton’s declaration of love for his son, who sat at his table.

Emotions overflowed sometimes, but humour was always there to mop up.

The 72nd Annual Golden Globe® Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, were presented on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles. It was the last time Tina & Amy will host the ceremony.
