AACTA AWARDS 2015 – WINNERS

THE DRESSMAKER FITTING FOR THE PEOPLE
Jocelyn Moorhouse’s dark farce, The Dressmaker, is the People’s Choice Award winner at this year’s AACTA Awards, with its cast – Judy Davis, Hugo Weaving and Kate Winslet - also going home armed with awards, while George Miller has the Best Director Award for Mad Max: Fury Road, which is also the big winner of Best Film.

Michael Caton was the only actor not in The Dressmaker to win, with Best Lead Actor Award for his work in Jeremy Sims’ Last Cab to Darwin, a multiple nominee.

Among the show’s highlights was the presentation of Australia’s highest screen accolade, the AACTA Longford Lyell Award, to Cate Blanchett, who received tributes from some of the world’s biggest names in film, including Martin Scorsese, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Robert Redford, Ridley Scott and Ron Howard.

Andrew L. Urban glances through Blanchett’s career, recalling some of the conversations they had about her films and her views on acting. READ IT HERE
