GOLDEN GLOBES 2016 – NOMINEES

George Miller with Mad Max: Fury Road (Best Drama) and Cate Blanchett for her role in Carol (Best Actress) are the high profile Australians in the list of nominees for the Golden Globe Awards to be presented on January 10, 2016 in Los Angeles.


Carol

Also nominated for Best Drama are Room, Spotlight, The Revenant and Carol, while Joy, Spy, The Big Short, The Martian and Trainwreck are nominated for Best Comedy/Musical.

Cate Blanchett’s Carol co-star Rooney Mara is also nominated for Best Actress (Drama) along with Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn), Brie Larson (Room) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl). Vikander’s co-star Eddie Redmayne is also a nominee (Best Actor), as are Will Smith (Concussion), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant) and Bryan Cranston (Trumbo).

Best Actress (Comedy / Musical) nominees are Lily Tomlin (Grandma), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Melissa McCarthy (Spy) Maggie Smith (The Lady in the Van) and Amy Schumer (Tranwreck).

Best Actor (Comedy / Musical) nominations go to Al Pacino (Danny Collins), Mark Ruffalo (Infinitely Polar Bear), Christian Bale and Steve Carrell (The Big Short) and Matt Damon (The Martian).

Best Supporting Actress nominees are Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs), Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Helen Mirren (Trumbo), Jane Fonda (Youth) and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina).

Supporting Actor nominations are Michael Shannon (99 Homes), Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, Sylvester Stallone (Creed) and Paul Dano (Love & Mercy.
