"I'm over-critical and not easily satisfied. But I apologise a lot. I have to, because I make psychological mistakes on the set in being pissed off about things that are basically nonsense - "  -Paul Verhoeven

LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, THE: DVD

SYNOPSIS:
Samantha Caine is a suburban school teacher suffering from amnesia. When her mysterious past begins to haunt her idyllic life, she sets out on a desperate (and very physical) search to discover her true identity.

"Like the film, there's nothing subtle about the 'bonus' features on this DVD, and the picture quality is none too great, with what looks like 'solid ghosting' evident throughout. But the extras are short, and the 'Making of' sticks to the 12 second rule: no shot lasts more than 12 seconds. Needless to say, it is high on hype and low on insight.

The interviews (a separate selection) are merely two sentence grabs from the EPK, and nobody has anything surprising or informative to say. Director Renny Harlin explains "it's a story of growth and incredible sacrifice…" But it's how these sorts of stories are told that matters, and Harlin doesn't get a question about that. Unsatisfying as the extras are, the material may be all that fans of this movie need. Not impressive."
Andrew L. Urban

"The Long Kiss Goodnight is a good no-brainer action thriller that will appeal to its young target market. The plot of school teacher with amnesia discovering she is a government assassin is pretty over-the-top, but it's entertaining enough. Besides Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson make an appealing duo and the action is spectacular.

The 'making of' featurette is pretty standard Hollywood EPK fare but if you're interested in the movie, it has some appeal. This is a movie that benefits from loud sound, and the quality here is great. Dim the lights, turn up the sound and chill out."
